Achieve Your Goals with a Degree from an Accredited Online University

October 13th, 2009

The old adage knowledge is power may be true. But unfortunately, knowledge itself doesn’t seem to be enough, it needs to be certified with a little piece of paper stamped with an official looking seal. Without a degree, which can now be earned from an accredited online university, to many employers your knowledge is worthless.

Today’s competitive marketplace makes it difficult for even the most qualified individuals to get a job, and those who don’t have a college degree, regardless of experience and ability, are at a dramatic disadvantage.

Full time education is not always an option for everyone, especially single or married parents who have to juggle sometimes multiple jobs to make ends meet, kids, and homework all at the same time. For these people, getting that degree is more desirable than anything, it’s the ticket to freedom from poverty and debt, but seems about as possible as winning the lottery. Enter the accredited online university. All of a sudden, getting a degree could be a feasible option.

An online university offers all the benefits of full time education. The degrees and certificates are the same. A student has the option of completing any level of education he or she wants, completing associates to a doctorate degree. But an online university offers flexibility that a traditional full time day university could never accommodate.

Because all courses are online, a student of an online university can work on a degree at any time of the day or night, on a consistent schedule, or whenever he or she can spare an extra moment. Courses don’t begin and end on certain days, and time limits for completing course work are much more lax and generous in an online university than they could possibly be at a traditional full time day university, making that degree more convenient.

Another limiting factor for many would-be college students is money. Earning a degree at a traditional full time day university costs thousands of dollars in tuition, fees and text books every year. For those who are struggling just to make ends meet from month to month, paying that much in tuition for two to four years is an insurmountable obstacle.

Again, this is a problem that an online university can help out with. Because online universities have little or no overhead costs, those savings are passed on to the students. Required text is often online, lowering book costs, and tuition itself is typically substantially lower than that of a traditional full time day university.

Earning a degree with an accredited online university is less difficult than it may seem. Many students are discouraged from trying by fears that courses will be too hard, or because they aren’t extremely familiar with computers.

Don’t let these concerns keep you from getting that life changing degree. Accredited online universities are designed to be easy to use and to assist, not impede your learning. If a college degree is your dream, but feels unreachable, look into the option of an online university. You’ll be surprised how close a degree could be.

Finding a Job at University

August 28th, 2009

One sure fire way to solve most of your money issues, or finance your extravagant lifestyle at university would be to get a part time job. Most companies are always looking for good hard working employees, especially if you’ve moved to a big university city; there will be a high turnover of jobs, especially over the summer due to students leaving.

I’ve put together a small list of suggestions and tips on finding a term-time job at university.

Jobcentre

In most towns a and cities there is a job centre, maybe even two or three, here you will find very friendly staff who will assist you in finding the right job, but remember not to be too fussy, when your desperate for money beggars can’t be choosers. If you don’t want to talk to anyone, you can easily walk in and have a look on their interactive computer system where you can search the database for local jobs and print out your favourites. Or if you’re even lazier, you can go to their website on http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk and search the database there. Another tip I can give you is don’t dally around and rest on your choices or they’ll be gone before you know it.

Supermarkets

These are the type of places I was saying at the beginning who have a high turnover of employees as they offer a large amount of part-time work for students so be quick and on your application form apply for all jobs, whether it be shelf staking, tills or even trolley collecting, it all brings in an hourly wage so again don’t be fussy or you’ll get nothing!

Local Paper

A lot of companies advertise job vacancies in the local paper, so sit down with a piece of paper and a pen, go through the paper and not down any jobs that interest you or you think you could do. When you’ve finished this, straight away starting phoning you’re leads, or again they’ll be gone or you’ll forget about them.

University Careers’ Officer/University Website

Most Universities or Colleges will assist their students in finding a job if they’d only ask! Pop round to your careers office or visit the website, which will have a lot of useful information or may even have a database of local part-time work especially for students.

Research

Just have a look around, some companies especially retailers will put up posters on the window advertising if there is a job vacancy available, even ask around your friends who have jobs etc. There are many websites out there too such as monster.co.uk who have thousands and thousands of job vacancies advertised.

Final Word

Once you’ve been successful in getting a job, remember it’s really important to have a balance between free time, work and university work. Too much hours can leave you with hardly any time to do your university or collage work or just to relax and get your brain in order. The recommended weekly hours for a student is 16 hours, so don’t go much over that if you’re in full time education, or failure could be on the horizon. Once you have an effective balance you will notice you will be receiving a steady monthly wage, this will be a huge weight off your mind and will be enjoy yourself more in your time at university.

Healing the Universe is an Inside Job

August 23rd, 2009

“Healing the universe is an Inside Job” is a quote that was printed at the bottom of an email send to me by my good friend Tajuana. When I first read it, I thought “Wow” what a great line – I’ll have to use it somewhere. After thinking about it for a few minutes I now see that the line is in complete error.

The universe is perfect the way it is. It is the matrix from which all forms of life interact with each other to experience the physical life. It is a playground or buffet of experiences from which we choose.

As a blank piece of paper would be the background from which we draw our lines, the universe as it is, simply represents the thoughts of its inhabitants. To say that a piece of paper needs healing would be incorrect. The line filled paper with its meaningless scribbles and useless information is simply representative of the mind that drew them. The universe or at least a very tiny part of it may be filled with humanities insanity, but it is the human mind that has created it not the universe. Man creates all that he/she experiences. The bathwater may be dirty but it started out clean; what caused it? You may have nice clean fresh sheets on you bed, but that will change the more you lie in them. It is not the universe that needs healing; it is humanity.

To say that “healing the universe is an inside job” simply is a nice way to say that “we” need healing. We are not separate from the universe; we are intimately connected to it. And the issue I have with using the terminology, or being nice, is that we take away the responsibility for directing the healing where it is needed the most. In other words, if something or someone else needs healing, it is not us and any energy given to the task of healing the universe will not go where it will do the most good.

The bottom line here is that the universe is literally commanded by your words, and it takes them literally. Thought, word, and deed – the word is the command for action and it must be absolutely clear. The universe does not interpret what we say. This is the secret to why most people do not get what they want, because they have not made it perfectly clear to the universe as to what it is that they want.

The mind commands the universe to create by using words, and it is the function of the universe to obey without second guessing. You may ask for a million dollars because you think it will make you happy, but the order you put in was for a million dollars – not for happiness.

I like the line, and it sounds very meaningful and spiritual, but it simply does not work, and it takes us away from the true issue, and that is that man is sickening his part of the universe and he needs to be healed, and that is an inside job.

The other issue is that most of us wouldn’t want to hear “Healing man is an inside job.” We don’t want to contemplate that we are ill or need healing. It is common place in our society to look at another and say it’s you, not me!

Our culture and language are full of these nice sayings and we keep using them because it makes us feel good to say them and it moves the responsibility for change to something or someone else.

Our language is probably our greatest obstacle in creating or experiencing what we want. The words we choose separate us from each other, the universe, and all the things we desire.

The first and greatest step to healing the universe is to heal the creator; heal man, and the universe will automatically heal itself.
