The Rhode Island job scene is pitiful. The Department of Employment and Job Training is broken. The whole job sitiuation in Rhode Island looks bleak. In times like this you have to think outside the box. I was out of work and did just that. I thought outside the box and here is my report.

Have you seen the ads everywhere for work at home jobs? There are literally thousands of them. They all claim to make you rich if you if buy their work at home course. Anything that indicates you will build wealth fast or get rich quick is a scam. There is no such thing! If your out of work do yourself a favor, do not waste your money on anything that says you will make a lot of cash fast. The only person this is making cash fast is the person that is selling the “Get Rich Quick Programs”.

I do know a couple dozen internet marketers that  make 1k to 50k a day, but they are properly trained pros and have been at it for a couple of years. They found their niche online and are making a killing. They work from home and live the good life.  These internet marketers did not learn all of their skills on their own. Most internet marketers take their jobs seriously and study hard to make their online campaigns successful.

Until recently there were no courses available online from one source, that was worthy of spending your hard earned cash on. That was until an online marketing university opened its doors a few years ago.

Now you can learn at your own pace, how to become a top internet marketer. I took the course myself. I learned more about online marketing in this one course than I ever learned on my own. It was the best $40 bucks I ever spent.

Now you can take easy to understand online classes at home, for a fraction of the price of a class at the Community College of Rhode Island. Which by the way doesn’t offer any classes like the ones below.

Are you looking for a job in Newport, Rhode Island? I am sure you realize how few jobs are. Remember when the Projo classified used to chuck full of jobs a few years ago? Now the Projo help wanted classifieds is only one or two columns on some days.

Most Newport business owners advertise their jobs in The Newport Daily News newspaper and the Newport Daily News website or NewportDailyNews.com. If you’re looking for any job in Newport, then the Newport Daily News should be your first stop.

Many Newport, Rhode Islanders have lost everything and others are about to lose it all because they lost their jobs. Not a good feeling. Being unemployed in Newport, Rhode Island can be extremely stressful and can cause major anxiety in some people. The worry alone can make you sick to your stomach. The cost of living is much higher in Newport than other parts of Rhode Island and that doesn’t make matters any better. From gas to groceries, if you live on Aquidneck Island then you always pay more for for them.

Here are some tips to finding a job in Newport or anywhere in Rhode Island for that matter.

Think seasonal when trying to find a job, and I am not talking just the summer months.  There are plenty of seasonal jobs in Rhode Island, especially Newport. Newport, RI jobs are usually plentiful in the summer months, but this may surprise you.

I have worked in Newport, and the spring and fall can be a great time to find a job. The reason why; many of the seasonal jobs in Newport are filled by college students, teachers and foreign students with work vistas from countries such as  Russia & Ireland and others. These students and teachers usually cannot be at work until a week after school lets out for summer break. These same workers usually have to leave before Labor Day weekend to head back to school.  This leaves most Newport business owners scrambling to find workers to cover those positions.

Since Newport has many off season festivals and other activities, visitors to the City By The Sea are fairly steady in the off season.  Newport employers need people to work weekends and some weekday shifts during these busy weekends. Working in Newport in the off season has another, plenty of free parking!

This is your window of opportunity to find a job in Newport. Get your foot in the door, and chances are you will have a year round job. Even if you are collecting unemployment and working part time, you can still collect your unemployment benefit check.

You might also be able to make a working arrangement for temporary work with a local Newport business owner, or any business owner for that matter, with the understanding that you would be laid off at a later date. Rhode Island Business owners are not penalized for laying a worker off, if they have been employed for less than 3 months on the job. This makes you a good candidate for temporary work in any Rhode Island business. You can also try Manpower for temporary work.

Most of the time the Rhode Island Department of Employment and Job Training will give you a bonus in your benefits check because you are working part time. This means more money in your pocket, and a chance to get out of the house and back to work, plus you get to mingle with the outside world.

There are also other resources available if you are thinking of changing careers. I used to be a cook / chef and worked in Newport for years in the restaurant business. After hitting my 40′s I realized there was no way I could stay in the restaurant biz when I became older. Most restaurant owners like to higher younger people. Older Rhode Island restaurant professionals don’t have much of a future since there is so much competition from the younger professionals who will work cheaper and usually are more energenic.

I don’t regret leaving the restaurant business. I work from home now and make more money than I ever made in the restaurant biz.

I think the best salary I made as a chef in Rhode Island was 52k a year. 52K a year is now chump change to me now.  I got into internet marketing and love it and make real money. Many people might say 52k is good money. What they don’t know is that chefs work 55 to 75 hour work weeks for that 52k a year salary. No overtime pay either. Even if you worked a 65 hour work week you make $15.35 an hour. Hardly the hourly wage a professional chef should be paid.

Internet marketing has transformed my life and future in such a short time. I went from working in my Chefs uniform making decent income to working in my PJ’s and earning a future.

It’s easy and cheap to start an online business if you have the right tools. I didn’t have a clue a while back about this business, but now I am a believer. If  you are interested in where I learned everything about internet marketing check this out. You can market anything online. I learned about the Oprah method of marketing and can make some sick cash using that free marketing technique.
