Arkansas State University Information

Arkansas state university or ASU is located on Crowley’s ridge at Jonesboro, Arkansas, USA. Founded in 1909, it was the first agricultural and mechanical college in 1925. In 1967, it was elevated to university status. Thereafter the degree, post graduate and doctors’ programs started. The whole ASUI system is located at different campuses. Craighead County, Beebe, Mountain home, and Newport are some of the locations where degree programs are offered.

There are more than 10000 students engaged in various academic pursuits. Academic affairs and research is responsible for different degree programs herein. For graduate and undergraduate faculties, there are learning opportunities provided with stress on job competencies. Among various degree programs, associate degrees, bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, specialist’s degrees, and doctoral degrees are there. Among associate degrees, automotive service, digital electronics, nursing, physiotherapy, etc are some of the degrees bestowed to the students after completion. There are many faculties under bachelor’s and master’s degree programs ranging from accounting, teaching, mathematics and political science.

Educational leadership, heritage studies, environmental science, molecular biosciences, etc are some of the faculties under doctoral degree programs. There are 10 academic colleges and 17 academic units. Also, Arkansas bioscience institute claims to improve health of Arkansans through agricultural and medical research. It also aims at science based economic growth and development in all areas through research, education and technology. The total ASU system enrolment at the end of 2006 was more than 17000. At Little Rock Air Force Base and in Green County at Paragould, this university operates instructional sites too.
